Getting to the Seychelles on Points

Here’s a quick rundown of how we visited the Seychelles on points:

Qatar Airlines QSuites Flight:

LAX –> DOH –> SEZ – 150,000 American Airlines miles, earned by using AA co-branded cards from Citi & Barclays(Can also use AMEX MR & ChaseUR). I used AA miles because they are really easy to earn and since they are partners with Qatar, I was able to book the Business class flight on the American website.  Please note, that the DOH – SEZ section of the slight is only Business Class and not Q-Suites.

Taxes were $107.75 for the roundtrip.

Private Pool Villa in Mahe:

We booked a Private Pool Villa in Mahe at the Hilton Northholme using Chase Ultimate Rewards points. The average price per night is about 93,000 points. For a regular room, it is about 43,000 points/night. We earned Chase UR points with sign up bonuses from our Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. Please email or DM on social media  for a referral link.

Hotel in Praslin:

We used the Chase Pay Yourself Back function for our hotel in Praslin because it was cheaper to go through the hotel than use the Chase Travel Portal and UR points. That way, we erased purchases we made on our Chase Sapphire Preferred to pay $0 out of pocket for the Coco de Mer Hotel Parrott Suites in Praslin.

CONCLUSION:

Aside from the $100 in airline taxes, our out of pocket costs were for insurance, COVID testing, food and drink. Pretty cheap way of doing the Seychelles if you ask me!
